Dr. Aileen Razey believes that every person deserves to do something that brings them joy; for many people, that joy is found through playing an instrument. Her expertise in clarinet pedagogy has connected her with clarinet students around the world, from public schools of Texas to international high schools, to music universities throughout the United States.
Teaching future performers and music educators is at the heart of Dr. Razey's musical career. She is currently Assistant Professor at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, where she teaches applied clarinet lessons, clarinet choir, and clarinet chamber music. She was recently Lecturer of Music at Ithaca College, teaching applied clarinet lessons and coaching chamber music. Previous teaching positions include Clarinet Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas, and Graduate Teaching Assistant in Clarinet and in Musicology at the University of Denver. Her clarinet and chamber university students are continuing their studies at highly regarded music programs throughout the U.S. and are inspiring children through teaching music in school classrooms.
Educational musical outreach is an enjoyable way of giving back to the community. Dr. Razey taught as Clarinet Instructor and Chamber Music Coach at the Aspen Music Festival and School, Passes and Lessons Program. Students from her previous private studio in Dallas-Fort Worth placed in the top school, district, and region bands.
Connecting with students in fields of study outside of music performance always creates special conversations. Dr. Razey is eager to introduce others to new music and learn about other peoples interest in music through Music Appreciation Courses. She is excited to help students discover the variety of career options available within the music industry through teaching Music Business Fundamentals courses, and even guiding students through the steps of crafting their own career and business ideas.
